Prayer Journal

Last night I bought a prayer journal. (Well, my lovely date gave me a Books-A-Million gift cadr with which to buy it.)

So far, it's one of the best decisions I've ever made. (The date AND the prayer journal.)

For everyday, there is a page of questions. They include how the weather is, blessings of the day, specific prayer requests, special verses, etc. The back of that page has lines to write your own prayer.

I started it last night and fell asleep. This morning I awoke early (unheard of, I know) and decided to finish. Again, one of the best decisions of my life. It gave me time to reflect on my day, blessings, problems, tasks. I gathered all of my thoughts for God and prayed them reverently all at one time.

Usually my prayer life is to sporadically pray whenever I think of something during the day. This causes hurried, not-thought-out prayers. I need to get over that.

As a result, today was much more focused. I've been looking for things to write down. Things that blessed me. Things I want to pray for.

Also as a result, I believe, I realize more clearly when God answers my prayers. I learn to appreciate them more.

What a good decision. Amen!
